Anstruther Baronets

There have been three Anstruther Baronetcies — two in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia (Anstruther of Balcaskie 1694 and Anstruther of Anstruther 1700) and one in the Baronetage of Great Britain (Anstruther of Anstruther 1798). There is also an Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe baronetcy in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom (1929). William John St Clair Anstruther-Gray was created a Baronet in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom 4 July 1956, and raised to the peerage as Baron Kilmany in 1966.

  1. ^ The Secretary to the Standing Council of the Baronetage: 'The Great Britain creation, Anstruther of Anstruther (cr 1798) in fact became extinct in 1980 with the death of the 8th Baronet, Sir Windham Eric Francis Anstruther, because the remainder was somewhat narrower in scope than for the Nova Scotian creations which meant that in the Registrar's and Lord Lyon's opinions the title could not pass to his kinsman, Sir Ralph Hugo Anstruther, who did succeed to the two Nova Scotian titles. Therefore the last two Baronets of the 1798 creation, Sir Ralph and Sir Ian were wrongly placed on the Official Roll in relation to the 1798 title only.'
